Woman arrested for second time in 5 weeks for drunk driving

WASGA BEACH – On June 1, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huronia West Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of ‘Indianola Crescent at Wasaga Beach. Officers located this vehicle and quickly launched an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was arrested and transported to OPP Huronia West Detachment where a drug recognition evaluation was completed. As a result, the 21-year-old driver from Parry Sound was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Driving under suspension

Police found the driver had three separate driver’s license suspensions and had been arrested for drug-impaired driving on two other occasions in the past five weeks.

As such, the driver was held for a bail hearing on June 2 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood.

Drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat to Ontario’s roads. Whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired, and impaired driving is dangerous, regardless of the source of the impairment.

Reporting impaired driving is everyone’s responsibility. Dial 9-1-1 if you suspect an impaired driver.
