Wasaga Beach woman charged with impaired driving near Killbear Provincial Park


Police say they responded to a park traffic complaint call when they arrested the 24-year-old

CARLING TWNP – On July 7, 2021 at approximately 1 a.m., members of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint call about Killbear Provincial Park in the Township of Carling. Officers stopped a vehicle and after speaking with the driver, officers concluded that alcohol had been consumed. The driver was arrested and transported to the West OPP Detachment in Parry Sound where further testing was carried out.

Following further investigation, Kaitlyn Mclean, 24, of Wasaga Beach, Ont., Was charged with:

  • Impaired driving – alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code (PC)
  • Impaired driving – blood alcohol level (over 80), contrary to CC article 320.14 (1) (b)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 19, 2021. The accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The charge marks the 49th driver indicted under criminal impaired driving laws in the West Parry Sound Detachment area in 2021.
