Wasaga Beach Closes Sale of Land to County for New Paramedic Station

A new station would be built at 544 River Road West and would serve as the main detachment for Wasaga Beach

A second paramedic station may be coming to Wasaga Beach, city officials say.

On March 10, Wasaga Beach council members approved the sale of a one-acre site at 544 River Road West to Simcoe County and are expected to ratify their decision on March 24.

The deal is still subject to approval by Simcoe County Council.

The new station is expected to be completed in 2025, with the current Wasaga Beach station (23 Oxbow Park Road) continuing as a second station within the community.

“We are very pleased to work with our Simcoe County partners on this project, which will ultimately provide a second paramedic station in our community,” Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi said in a statement. “This represents a significant investment in Wasaga Beach.

Simcoe County Warden George Cornell said the county is pleased to improve its service levels in the community.

“With our growing population, we are experiencing an increase in paramedic call volumes in the region,” Cornell said in the release. “We are proud to help our partners in the Town of Wasaga Beach move this exciting community project forward. »
