BARRIE, ONT. – A 15-year-old boy faces two counts of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that left two men seriously injured in Wasaga Beach last week.
Provincial police said the victims and the suspect scuffled on June 17 at around 11:30 p.m., resulting in two 18-year-olds being stabbed on the Main Street bridge.
Police said both victims were conscious and alert when teams arrived and took them to a local hospital. A man was then airlifted to a trauma center in Toronto.
Following the incident, police issued a statement requesting public assistance in locating the suspect, calling him “armed and dangerous”.
Huronia West OPP Says Southern Georgian Bay Crime Unit and Crime Unit officers executed a search warrant at a Wasaga Beach residence and placed the teen under arrest .
In addition to the attempted murder charges, the accused faces dangerous possession of a weapon, robbery and failure to comply with a probation order.
He was held for a bail hearing on Friday.
Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact the Ontario Provincial Police or Crime Stoppers.
Mayor Nina Bifolchi has called for an increased police presence at the popular summer destination after two separate stab wounds in a week.
More than 20 officers were brought in last weekend to patrol the area.
