is now celebrating its 10th anniversarye year, the South Beach Seafood Festival has quickly become one of the area’s favorite food festivals as it kicks off South Florida’s famous stone crab season, with four days of food, fun, culinary competitions, creative cocktails, South Beach and general seafood frenzy. The acclaimed culinary extravaganza has also gained impressive national recognition, including “Best food festival in the United States” by Food Network & USA Today, “The best seafood festival in the United States” by Travel Channel,“Contest of the 5 best chefs” by Food Network, “Best Fall Food Eventby Forbes Travel, and “Best Chef Beach Bash” by Ocean Drive! It all starts on Wednesday, October 19 and culminates with the signing South Beach Seafood Festival along South Beach’s scenic Lummus Park on Saturday, October 22.

AN EVENING AT JOE’S STONE CRAB (Wednesday, Oct. 19): This culinary adventure exclusive to the legendary Joe’s Stone Crab consists of a five-course meal featuring the cuisine of Executive Chef André Bienvenu paired with fine wines selected by master sommeliers. Tickets for this very exclusive event are available for $500 and usually sell out quickly.

CRABS, SLABS & CABS (Thursday, October 20): This one-of-a-kind dining experience includes an exquisite 5-course formal dinner in a tropical oasis for the ultimate in extraordinary seafood. GOYA Executive Chef Fernando Desa will be joined by some of Miami’s top chefs, including renowned restaurateur José Mendín; Fiola’ Danny Ganem; Sean Brasel of Meat Market; chef Javier Carballo of the Surfcomber Social Club; and chef/owner Giorgio Rapicavoli of Luca Osteria. Limited to 150 guests, attendees will explore flavors from around the world as each chef presents a different course featuring their own take on the delicious surf and turf pairing.

CHEF SHOWDOWN (Friday October 21): Coined “the ultimate beach party on South Beach,” 20 of Miami’s top chefs will face off in ten competitive seafood showdowns. Enjoy the live action of an “Iron Chef” style showdown, where 20 of the region’s top chefs will face off in eight unique seafood showdowns – and you go judge! Each battle will have a lucky champion. And for the first time this year, an MVP will be selected as the grand prize winner and take home the grand prize of $10,000!

Hosted by NBC 6’s Kelly Blanco, this year’s celebrity judges include GOYA’ food chief executive Fernando Desa; Joe’s Stone Crab Executive Chef André Bienvenu; RED Steakhouses’ chief executive Peter Vauthy; Chef Adrianne Calvo; food writer Sara Liss; and Senior Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at City National Bank of Florida, Eddie Dominguez.
