Sunnidale Trails – community park

Rumor: The city is providing Zancor Homes with $5 million to build a park and pickle ball courts on the Sunnidale Trails subdivision.

Do: A community park will be created in the Pacific Homes portion of the subdivision at an estimated cost of $5 million, the majority to be paid for through the park component of development charges, a $500,000 contribution from Pacific Homes, a contribution from the school board, and tax dollars. See the overall plan.

The Sunnidale Trails development will see the construction of 2,750 new homes in a planned community with an emphasis on families. The planning for this community began almost 20 years ago and it is finally bearing fruit.

The community park will serve the approximately 6,000 new residents who will call it home and is part of a network of trails, natural areas and neighborhood parks. It is located next to a community-use elementary school in which the City is investing $1.7 million so that it can serve as a community center on evenings and weekends. See the park/school plan.

The development will also be the location of the new Wasaga Beach High School, a Catholic elementary school as well as the aforementioned community-use school being built by the Simcoe County District School Board.
