For nearly two years, as part of our Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team (SGB OHT) efforts to keep our community safe and protected during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Family Health Team of Georgian Bay (GBFHT) collaborated with our Ontario Health team. (OHT) to support the daily operations of our local COVID-19 Assessment Centers in South Georgian Bay.

Today, the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team is pleased to announce that, as part of our efforts to support COVID-19 recovery and primary care, regional health center leadership COVID-19 assessment will be transferred from GBFHT to Canadian health laboratories.

Dr. Harry O’Halloran, Senior Physician at Georgian Bay Family Health Organization and Co-Chair of the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team, sends heartfelt thanks to GBFHT and all healthcare partners and community organizations that have helped us deliver this service. He shares that “running the COVID-19 Assessment Centers has been a shining example of how a community can work together during the most difficult times. We are confident that Canadian Health Labs will continue to provide efficient service, until the long-awaited day when it is no longer needed! »

COVID-19 testing clinics will continue to take place at Wasaga Beach RecPlex and Collingwood Legion drive-thru locations. From Thursday, December 9, 2021, you can visit our website to access booking instructions.

For a short time, GBFHT will work closely with Canadian Health Labs to ensure a smooth and seamless transition of service, which will continue to provide timely access to appointments and COVID-19 test results for all residents of the South Georgian Bay.

All results will be available on government portal. Patients without a health card will be contacted by the CHL with their results. We are pleased to announce that we will continue to provide the valuable COVID-19 home monitoring program for appropriate patients who test positive for COVID-19 to keep them safe and healthy at the House.
