Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Simcoe Muskoka

Simcoe Muskoka residents interested in rolling up their sleeves for a COVID-19 vaccine can drop by a pop-up clinic March 7-10.

The health unit offers one-day clinics for the first, second, third, and booster shots to anyone 12 years of age and older.

The clinics also offer first and second doses of the pediatric vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old.

Vaccines are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The area’s medical officer of health urged residents to continue practicing preventative measures as the province lifts further restrictions, a move Dr. Charles Gardner feared might happen too soon.

The province has suggested it may also scrap the mask mandate in the coming weeks.

Last week, Dr. Gardner noted that even as the province moves away from COVID-19 mandates, “we are still seeing community transmission.”

Simcoe Muskoka’s top doctor “strongly encouraged” eligible residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine to help reduce the risk of serious illness or hospitalization.

Residents can get vaccinated or have a booster at one of the health offices community clinics or the RVH Sperling Drive clinic in Barrie.

To select pharmacies also provide vaccines.
