Police seize loaded gun after scuffle in Wasaga Beach: OPP

WASAGA BEACH – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huronia West Detachment arrested a man for possession of a loaded firearm in Wasaga Beach.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday July 11, 2021, the West Huronia OPP responded to a 9-1-1 call at a local bar on Main Street for a report of an ongoing fight. .

Several officers attended the scene and upon his arrival, a man was placed under arrest for assault. During the investigation, a loaded gun was found in the possession of the arrested man.

As a result, Michael McPherson, 28, of Barrie, was charged with the following;

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Firearm Possession
  • Careless storage of the firearm
  • Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order – two counts
  • Failure to comply with probation – two counts
  • Aggression
