Phuket’s Roi Rim Lay Seafood Festival will take place at Nai Yang Beach this coming weekend, Friday and Saturday. The festival will start at 4 p.m. on Friday and end at 11 p.m. on Saturday March 25 and 26. The festival will host more than 100 food stalls, live Thai folk music “Luk Thung” and cooking competitions with chili paste and grilled seafood.
The chairman of the administrative organization of Saku Tambon said in a press release on Monday that food and drink at the festival will be cheap and lobsters will be sold for 199 baht each.
The president said the festival aims to help the local fishing economy, including fishermen and seafood operators. Phuket Deputy Governor Anupap and other officials are supporting the event, as well as the Chairman of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization. PPAO has held other food festivals in Phuket in the past, also to support local communities.
The Roi Rim Lay Festival was also recently held at Kamala Beach last weekend. This lasted from Saturday to Monday March 19 to 21. Phuket Governor Narong said the festival was held at several locations in Phuket.
“Holding the King Rim Lay events at various locations in Phuket is aimed at boosting the province’s economy.”
Narong said the festival also gives tourists the opportunity to try local food and delicacies.
