LETTERS: Collingwood residents slam proposed downtown arch

It looks like something from the 1940s and reminds me that you are entering “Wasaga Beach” or some kind of amusement park. Not an attractive addition to our beautiful downtown.

Please ask them to collect public comments. The money could be well spent another way.

I am a definite and resounding no!

It distracts from what is already obvious. We have a charming historic district that speaks for itself. The bow recalls “Welcome to Coney Island”.

We are not just a tourist town, Collingwood has a rich history and a mostly well preserved town centre.

It’s tasteful. The bow is not. It’s a colossal waste of money that would be better spent on preserving and restoring architecture or other beneficial improvements for all to enjoy.

Maybe downtown is hard to find, as you say, because there isn’t one. Look at the photo of the arch, it looks like you are entering an industrial area.
