Hybrid Meeting Protocol Moves to Phase 2

The Town of Wasaga Beach is moving to Phase 2 of its hybrid meeting protocol.

Advice approved the protocol in April and implemented the first phase in May. The purpose of the protocol is to ensure the safe return of in-person meetings, suspended at the start of the pandemic.

As part of Phase 2, registered public participants in Committee and Board meetings are invited to attend in person. It means people speaking on an agenda item. Participation in virtual meetings remains an option. Staff with an item on the agenda are now invited to attend in person.

Additionally, members of the media are now welcome in person at the meetings.

The city is asking all attendees to passively screen for COVID-19 before entering the council chamber.

Masks are encouraged but not required.

The city implemented Phase 1 of its meeting protocol in May, with council members and required staff attending in person, if possible.

Phase 3 will begin on a date not yet fixed. This phase will build on previous phases and introduce limited public participation.

The final phase – again no date is set – will see the establishment of unrestricted public access.
