Georgian’s first in-person open house since fall 2019 was a huge success with more than 2,300 guests coming Saturday to learn more about the college’s programs and services.
This represents a 55% increase from the last in-person open house.
Interested potential candidates reached out to faculty and staff at all seven campuses to find out what makes the Georgian experience unique – from our tight-knit and welcoming communities to our focus on hands-on learning, attitude change, cutting-edge technology and entrepreneurship.
Guests were encouraged to try a variety of hands-on activities and explore cool labs and innovative spaces on each campus. They were able to meet with their future support network to see all the ways Georgian’s Student Services team can contribute to their academic success. Additionally, guests learned about their financial aid options and how to access awards, scholarships, and scholarships. They could also visit all seven campus locations as well as the Arch and Helen Brown Design and Digital Arts Center in downtown Barrie.
Audrey Francioni from Wasaga Beach came by to learn about Georgian’s new Honors Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
“It was exciting to see the faculty demonstrate the simulators and learn about all the cool technologies we were going to be working with in the program,” said Audrey, who had the opportunity to listen to the heartbeats of a high fidelity baby manikin.
Paige Schlorff and her parents, Tracey and Terry, went to the Hannover Open Day to check out the nursing degree as well.
“It was great to be able to tour the Barrie campus, see all the hands-on demonstrations in the nursing labs, and talk to faculty and nursing students,” Paige said. “I like the residence and the Georgian is close to my house, which is also very nice.
Guests learned about several new programs on offer designed to help the next generation of graduates prepare for employment in today’s workforce and meet the demands of local employers, including:
More than 1,130 applications – the highest number of applications ever recorded for an open house – were submitted on Saturday and those who applied to at least one Georgian program had the $ 110 fee from the college registration service of the ‘Ontario covered by the college.
