COVID-19 News: Simcoe Muskoka Vaccination Clinics Offer Injection As Ontario Announces Vaccination Certificate

0

BARRIE, ONT. – Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit is offering COVID-19 vaccines at several walk-in clinics as the Ontario government announces proof of immunization will be required to access non-essential businesses.

Authorities predict that the vaccination certificate will cause hesitant or reluctant residents to roll up their sleeves for the vaccine.

“People who might have been sitting on the fence will say, ‘Wow, if I want to participate in non-essential activities, go to non-essential businesses, like restaurants, bars, concerts or whatever, I have need a vaccine. I’ll get one, ”said infectious disease specialist Dr Isaac Bogoch.

In Simcoe Muskoka, 82% of those aged 12 and over received at least one dose of the vaccine, including 77% of those aged 12 to 17.

Still, the health unit would like to see those numbers increase as schools reopen in less than a week.

Here is a list of walk-in vaccination clinics open from September 1 to 17:

Residents born in 2009 or earlier are eligible for the vaccine.
