Census shows Wasaga Beach as one of the fastest growing communities in Canada

Census data recently released by Statistics Canada shows Wasaga Beach to be one of the fastest growing communities in the country.

“We’re not really surprised because we’ve grown steadily over the past few years,” Mayor Nina Bifolchi said. “We think people want to live here because we’re an affordable and safe place to live.”

Additionally, Bifolchi said a number of other factors contribute to making the community a desirable location.

“We have a growing number of housing choices, excellent schools and good access to health care, a public transport system, a beautiful waterfront, hiking trails, recreational facilities, good infrastructure for water and sewer, we are close to major urban centers and our cost of living, including property taxes and water rates, is low,” she said.

In addition to this, the city is planning for the future through projects such as the new two-storey arena and library, the redevelopment of city-owned land on the waterfront, and a number of other ongoing projects. of planning.

The city is reaching an attractive population threshold for new entrepreneurs, as evidenced by the number of businesses opening. In the West, Gateway Casinos and Entertainment continues construction of its new facility.

“We look forward to new census data releases in the coming months as this will help paint an even more detailed picture of our community,” Bifolchi said.
