Brampton man charged with second degree murder for stabbing Wasaga


Two other people previously charged with second degree murder have had those charges withdrawn, now charged with assault with a weapon

WASAGA BEACH – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid additional charges in connection with a homicide investigation in Wasaga Beach.

On Sunday, June 13, 2021 at approximately 12:39 a.m., members of the West Huronia OPP, along with Simcoe County Paramedics and Wasaga Beach Fire Department responded to the beach area. 1 on Beach Drive. An adult male with life-threatening injuries has been located. Despite his efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An autopsy determined that the victim, Mustafa Khaleel, 23 of Mississauga, died from a stab wound.

As the investigation continued, Micha Duran, 25, of Brampton, was charged with second degree murder. He appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 16, 2021 and was remanded in custody.

The 21-year-old from Etobicoke and the 25-year-old from Brampton, previously charged with second degree murder, have had those charges withdrawn. Each is now charged with one count of armed assault in connection with this incident. Both appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood and were released.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CISC) of the Ontario Provincial Police.

It is believed that many people were in the area at the time of the incident.
