Enjoy a variety of outdoor fall events
A nice variety of things to do is planned this fall 2021 at Fernandina Beach. There are plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors enjoying fun activities, from the downtown riverside to its beach.
Don’t miss Fernandina’s special 3 days “Fall for the prawns” downtown event! The more the Right whale festival will take place by the sea at Main beach park. Drive through approximately 300 classic cars parked in the Historic District along Center Street. Or old cars inside the walls at Fort Clinch. Some may enjoy tasting beers at the new Craft Beer Festival that takes place at Fernandina’s Central park. More other events, see the detailed list below.
September 2021 Festivals and events
September 3, 2021 (6 p.m. – 8 p.m.) – The first weekend of September starts with Sounds in the center. These downtown outdoor street concerts are free, presented by the Association of Historical Enterprises of Fernandina. On the first Friday evening in September, the star group is Island atmosphere.
September 18, 2021 (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) – Island Hop Craft Beer Festival – This new craft beer festival takes place in Fernandina central park (Atlantic avenue). Fernandina’s local breweries – First love brew, Mocama Beer Company, and Amelia Island Brewing Company – and other breweries are expected. Also food trucks and vendors in the “Main Street Marketplace” and live music by Honey badgers. Oktoberfest profit non-profit, Main street of Fernandina beach. Admission to the Beer Festival is $ 39 when purchased in advance (or on the day of the event $ 50). Designated drivers can enter for five dollars. September 25, 2021 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) – Vintage Cars & Cannons at Fort Clinch State Park
Book the last Saturday of September 2021 to visit Fernandina Fort Clinch State Park. Always a wonderful place to walk around, visit September 25, 2021 to browse vintage cars in 3rd edition “Cars and cannons” show on the parade ground inside the walls of the fort. This is a fundraising event for the group of volunteers, “Friends of Fort Clinch”, in favor of the park. Admission to the state park is $ 6 per vehicle (2 to 8 passengers) and $ 4 for a single driver. Cyclists and pedestrians can enter through the park entrance gate for $ 2. Entrance to the parade ground at the fortress itself costs an additional $ 2.50 per person. Food / drink will be available for purchase. Want to exhibit your vintage vehicle at Fort Clinch? October 2021 Festivals and events
Fall in Love with Shrimp – October 1-3, 2021 – Food, Music, Arts and Crafts
the Eight Flag Island Shrimp Festival has been canceled for two consecutive years (May 2020 / May 2021), as a precaution during COVID-19. While not the shrimp festival, there is another special event planned for this fall. There will be shrimp to eat, art and craft stalls to browse, and the “Southern party group ”, the Swingin ‘medallions will occur (Sunday). Falling for Shrimp Hours: Friday, October 1 – 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, October 2 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 3 – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This Special event is presented by the Eight Flag Island Shrimp Festival Committee and sponsored by Baptist Nassau.
October 1, 2021 – Sounds on Center (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) – The very last concert of the Sounds on Center 2021 the season is Friday evening, October 1, 2021. Featured entertainment is the Bluff 5 Strip (playing a variety of rock, country, blues and soul music). The concert is free and will take place in Fernandina’s riverside parking lot, south of Atlantic Seafood (instead of Center Street).
Amelia Island Jazz Festival – October 3-10, 2021 – Beginning with a free concert at Amelia Park, a variety of concerts are scheduled this fall. Check out jazz concert dates and featured musicians, how to buy tickets, and more information about the Amelia Island Jazz Festival.
8 Flags Car Show – October 16, 2021
A local favorite, people flock downtown to browse Amelia Cruizers’ annual exhibition of vintage cars, an autumnal tradition. This year is the anniversary of the quarter century. the 8 Flag Motor Show happens on October 16, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event has grown over the past 25 years to reach the current limit of 300 vehicles. The show features hundreds of beautifully restored classics parked along Center Street, as well as side streets across eight blocks of downtown. Music from the speakers helps to set the mood for this relaxed and enjoyable event. A free entry show, this particular fall Saturday is the perfect time to take a walk in the open air downtown in the historic district of Fernandina. Do you have a classic vehicle that you would like to exhibit? Owners pay a nominal registration fee (this event is a fundraiser, find out more).
November 2021 Festivals and events
Right Whale Festival 2021 – November 6-7, 2021 – Learn about the plight of this critically endangered species that arrives each winter off the coast of Amelia Island, and elsewhere here in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. Petanque Amelia Island Open – November 12-14, 2021 – Attracting players from all over the world, this annual event takes place along the Fernandina River petanque courts near downtown Fernandina Harbor Marina. Spectators watch the teams play, there are food / drink / vendor stalls near the courts.
