41 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County schools today

New cases are reported today at schools in Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Shanty Bay

Today, 41 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in schools in Simcoe County.

A total of 126 active cases of COVID-19 were reported by local school boards in schools in Simcoe County as of 4 p.m. on November 29.

An epidemic declared on November 26 by the health service of an anonymous private school has 13 new cases.

Hewitt’s Creek Public School in Barrie is reporting one case and an affected classroom today.

Hyde Park Public School, also in Barrie, reports one case and affected classroom.

Regent Park Public School in Orillia reports case and affected classroom.

WR Best Memorial Public School in Shanty Bay is reporting one case and an affected classroom today.

Worsley Elementary School in Wasaga Beach has a new case today, which is in addition to a case previously reported to the school.

Elmvale District High School has a case today.

St. John Vianney Catholic School in Barrie is reporting eight new cases today, adding to one case and an affected class previously reported to the school.

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board reports that a new staff member tested positive at the New Alliance Catholic High School in Barrie. This is in addition to two cases – a staff member and a student – previously reported to the school. A new case of a student has been reported to the Notre-Dame-de-la-Huronie ÉÉC in Collingwood, and one classroom has been affected, adding to a previously reported case at the school.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie is now reporting five student cases.

As of November 15, the board changed the way it reports cases to its advisory board, deferring the reporting of some schools to the health unit. There are now five schools in Barrie, one school in Cumberland Beach, one school in Everett and one school in Ramara Township that no longer have cases listed on the advisory board, with the health unit reporting cases to:

  • Terry Fox Elementary School (eight cases in total)
  • WC Little Elementary School (10 cases in total)
  • Emma King Public School (nine cases in total)
  • Maple Grove Public School (12 cases total)
  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School (two new today, three cases in total)
  • Severn Shores Public School (seven cases total)
  • Tosorontio Central Public School (three new today, 13 cases in total)
  • Uptergrove Public School (two new today, three cases in total)

The health unit does not report on affected classrooms.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 76 active confirmed cases in 18 schools according to their advisory board. In addition to the cases reported above by the health unit, these are:

  • Algonquin Ridge Elementary School in Barrie, one case and one affected classroom
  • Hewitt’s Creek Public School in Barrie, case and classroom affected
  • Hyde Park Public School in Barrie, case and classroom affected
  • Orchard Park Public School in Orillia, two cases and one classroom affected.
  • Regent Park Public School in Orillia, one case and one affected classroom.
  • Tecumseth South Central Public School in Tottenham, a case and an affected classroom
  • Willow Landing Elementary School in Barrie, one case and one affected classroom.
  • WR Best Memorial Public School in Shanty Bay, case and classroom affected
  • Wasaga Beach Worsley Elementary School has a case
  • Elmvale District High School has a case

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 24 active cases spread across 12 schools:

  • Monsignor Castex Catholic School in Midland has one case and affected classroom
  • Monsignor Clair Catholic School in Barrie reports two cases, with two classrooms affected
  • Monsignor Lee Catholic School in Orillia reports two cases, one affected classroom
  • Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus reports case and affected classroom.
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Elmvale reports a case.
  • Bradford’s St. Angela Merici Catholic School reports two cases and two affected classrooms.
  • St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Innisfil reports one case and affected classroom.
  • St. John Vianney Catholic School in Barrie, nine cases and one classroom affected
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has two cases and two classrooms affected
  • St. Mary’s Catholic School in Collingwood reports case and affected classroom.
  • St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Barrie reports one case, two affected classrooms
  • St. Theresa Catholic High School in Midland reports one case and two affected classrooms

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board reported that two staff members and one student tested positive at École secondaire catholique Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie. Two student cases were reported to the ÉÉC Notre-Dame-de-la-Huronie in Collingwood. The council also reports a case of a student and an affected classroom at the Frère-André Catholic Elementary School in Barrie.

At the Viamonde School Board, Le Caron High School in Penetanguishene currently has two active cases. La Source Elementary School in Barrie reports five student cases.
